In the sunrise. The sun comes in through the small window of our tent. I close my eyes very tightly, as if it could make our stay here a little longer. It is of no use. The boys open the door and shout: "You have to have a quick breakfast; we're going to miss the plane". It's our last breakfast in paradise. Toast with cheese and jam, a tea with a taste of everything lived those days and juice. The buffet offered other dishes but, due to emotion and sadness, my appetite was down. We run to take a shower no matter how cold the water would be and we collected our entire luggage. Audi, the host of the Bedouin camp waited for us in the 4x4 to take us to the city.

During the car ride, the air caresses my skin and messes my hair while I smile. The memories pass slowly through my mind. I am so focused on putting all these thoughts in order and transfer this adventure, with words, on a paper. I hear voices in the distance and laughter. I'm sure my friends are joking with Audi. The truth is that rather than a host, we consider him as a friend. He and his cousins had made us feel like part of their family. Four young boys, tall, dark and bearded, always attentive and kind; ready to help with a smile on their face. How different from what I had imagined. Cultures so different, but people so alike.

I remember the first night in the desert; they prepared dinner for us, with the typical tastes of Jordan and we sat around the fire telling stories, laughing and singing. We went outside in the middle of nowhere, in the deepest darkness of the night; there was no noise, everything was so quiet that I could even hear the sound of silence. At that moment I looked up at the sky and I felt happy. The whole universe above me. So many constellations, comets and shooting stars decorated the sky like I had never seen before. I was amazed. So amazed that, despite the cold, I decided to sleep outside.

All the memories keep flying through my head. The visit to Petra and the hundreds of photos taken. One of the Seven Wonders of the World. It was nice that we enjoyed the city without much crowd. On Saturday we took two taxis that drove us there. The sensation was perfect. Walking among donkeys, camels and horses in one of the most important tourist attractions in the world. Discover the details, the variety of colours, the different cultures and nationalities. People from all over the world were impressed by the same thing. An ancient city built on stone thousands of years ago. An incredible monument.

I put aside my thoughts for a moment and listen to my friends talking about yesterday's sunset. I'm in love with Golden Hours and the previous day in the desert was incredible. I smile and dive back into my world to think over our previous day. A tour in the desert with two exceptional guides, our hosts. Ten hours from one side to the other, by car, camel, walking or running. In the heart of pure nature and surrounded by animals. I have never experienced so much peace. I had never been so strongly and positively affected. The landscape still remains imprinted on my mind. The greatness of the desert seemed endless. On top of a rock I felt like Simba, ready to shoot the film of the Lion King. How many different sensations in such a short time.

The air has stopped caressing me. We have to go back to reality. I get out of the car at the airport. It's time to say goodbye. I connect to the airport’s wi-fi and inform my parents that I'm fine, that the plane leaves in an hour and that I can only thank them for allowing me to live such an experience. Words and pictures can't show how incredible this journey has been. I feel blessed and grateful. I really love my life. I get on the plane and review the photos. I smile and fall asleep...
